| The
Fatma Banu Hospital was established in 1915 for the benefit of the local
inhabitants of Nhava, in memory of the Founder’s wife, Fatma Banu who died
in Damascus in 1913. Over the years the Hospital has expanded and its equipment
updated to meet the present requirements of both the Campus as well as
the local inhabitants of the surrounding neighbourhood. A fully qualified
Resident Medical Officer (RMO) is in attendance at all times, and the Hospital
serves as a model Cottage Hospital with facilities for preliminary investigation,
with a pathology laboratory, and an X-Ray Unit. The Hospital also has an
air-conditioned operation theatre for minor operations and a fully equipped
dental unit, frequent immunisation and family planning camps are also conducted
on the premises. The Hospital has entered into an arrangement with Mahatma
Gandhi Memorial Hospital at Kamothe to transfer serious cases to their
Hospital. A small dispensary is also attached to cater to the normal needs
of the patients.
The
RMO together with his team also conduct regular courses in Elementary First
Aid and Proficiency in Medical First Aid for the Crew and Officers Training
at the establishment.
