The
first Survival Courses designed to train seafarers in basic survival techniques
at sea was launched on National Maritime Day on 4th April 1981. Later in
1985 two pairs of davits were added and courses for Proficiency in Survival
Craft were initiated. In 1997 a single arm davit with a rescue boat was
also installed and now courses in Personal Survival Techniques and Proficiency
in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats are conducted in compliance with STCW
'95. The establishment is a member and country representative of the International
Association of Sea Survival Training, UK (IASST). It is now housed in the
basement of Sagarika Hostel which was completed in January 2001 |
